Bragster

What would happen if we projected a real credit card on to the Bank of England and then challenged passers by and bragster.com users online to use the card? Well during a Christmas in 2008, we got to find out exactly what would happen. Some people walked by, some people gave money to charity and some people try to buy out the Apple store. We worked with the awesome team at Skywrite PR to get the story out there and what a success it was.

What was the problem?

bragster.com (acquired by Guinness World Records since) was an online challenge platform and we dared ourselves to do something cool, fun and altruistic to make Christmas 2008 less doom and gloom (the financial crisis had just hit).

And how did we solve it?

We got a credit card, we got a projection team, we got a reporter, we took to the streets of the City and a giant credit card popped up on the side of the Bank of England.

People had to do challenges to get the registered address of the card and once word spread, the virality caught on. We really loved the people who used it to donate to good causes and even the guy who paid off his parking ticket right there and then. (What’s not to love about free parking.).

The Results?

Thanks to the strength of the idea and the wonderful work of Skywrite PR, we got newspaper coverage across the board and a live video interview with an Australian breakfast show. Even the Daily Mail were nice about it!
